Try This FREE, Fun Candy Dice Game (Printable Included!)

The Candy Deluxe Dice Game is a super fun and easy game that’s perfect for kids, adults, and families.

This type of printable game is a fan favorite in my house, and let me tell you, it’s a surefire way to get everyone laughing and having a great time.

(I may or may not have been accused of being a little too competitive – but that’s all part of the fun, right?)

Let’s dive into the ins and outs of playing this awesome slice of fun!

How Do You Play the Candy Dice Game?

A-colorful-candy-dice-game-instruction-sheet-on-a-wooden-table

Objective

Players take turns rolling the dice and performing the corresponding action on the game board – like “everyone pass a piece of candy to the left” or “swap candy piles with another player”.

The goal?

To end up with the most pieces of candy by the end of the game. It’s a delightfully chaotic mix of strategy, luck, and a whole lot of candy-grabbing goodness.

Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll need to play:

Essentials for Starting the Candy Dice Game

  • Dice: You need to for this particular candy dice game. And having a few extra couldn’t hurt. You know, in case one mysteriously disappears under the couch. I always say, “A dice in hand is worth two under the sofa.”
  • Candy: The real MVPs of the game. Opt for a variety, because everyone’s taste buds have their own personality. (make sure each person starts off with 3 to 5 pieces; but there should be 30 or more in a bowl in teh center of the table)
  • Printable Game Sheet: A printable game sheet (more on that later!) Without this, it’s just adults and kids rolling dice for no apparent reason.
  • Cups or Bowls: To hold the candy and to keep the table from turning into a candy battlefield. Also, they make cleanup much easier, which is always a bonus in my book.
  • A Good Attitude: Because let’s face it, not every roll will be sweet.
Tip

Always have a little extra candy on hand. It’s not just for the game; it’s for those moments when you need a little sugar rush to keep the enthusiasm high. Plus, it’s a great way to make new friends. Candy has that magical power, you know.

Choosing the Right Pieces of Candy for the Game

The candy choice is arguably the most critical decision you’ll make in this game. Choose wisely, for the fate of the game (and your taste buds) hangs in the balance.

  • Variety is Key: Mix it up with chocolates, gummies, and hard candies. It’s like hosting a global summit, but with candy.
  • Size Matters: Opt for smaller pieces. They’re easier to handle and less likely to cause a candy monopoly situation.
  • Special Diets: Always have options for those with dietary restrictions. Sugar-free, gluten-free, nut-free โ€“ the whole nine yards. It’s all about inclusive fun.
  • Theme It Up: Hosting a Halloween party? Go for spooky-themed candies. Christmas? Bring out the candy canes. It adds a layer of festive fun to the game.

Overall it’s best to stick with wrapped candies that won’t melt or get sticky during gameplay.

Think fun-sized candy bars, individually wrapped lollipops, or packs of M&M’s or Jolly Ranchers.

Understanding the Game Rules of Candy Dice

If you’re picturing me, a seasoned candy dice champion, sitting amidst a mountain of candy with a dice in one hand and a rulebook in the other, well, you’re not far off.

It’s a game that’s seen more candy casualties and victories than I can count, all in the name of fun.

Step-by-step guide to the Candy Dice Game Rules

Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. Rolling the dice in Candy Dice is like opening a box of chocolatesโ€”you never know what you’re going to get, but you’re hoping it’s something good. Here’s how to play:

  1. Roll the Dice: Each player takes turns rolling the dice. The number you roll determines your fateโ€”and your candy count.
  2. Candy Actions: Based on the roll, you either take candy from the pot, give candy back, or pass the dice to the next player without any candy action. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions.
  3. Winning: The game ends when the candy pot is empty. The player with the most candy wins, earning the enviable title of Candy Champion.
Tip

Always have a clear set of rules printed out for everyone. It prevents any “creative interpretations” of the rules. And believe me, when candy is at stake, people get creative.

Creative Variations

  1. Sugar Rush: Instead of a time limit, set a target candy amount (e.g., 25 pieces). The first player to reach that number wins.
  2. Candy Trader: Allow players to negotiate trades between each other, adding an extra layer of strategy.
  3. Candy Cravings: Before the game, each player writes down their three favorite candy types. If they collect all three during the game, they get a bonus piece from the central pile. This one’s a bit more labor intensive, because you have to make sure that you have pieces of everyone’s top 3 favorite candies in the game.
  4. Candy Combos: Assign point values to different candy types (e.g., chocolate = 2 points, gummies = 1 point). The player with the highest point total at the end wins a special prize.
  5. Candy Challenges: Add physical challenges to certain squares (e.g., do five jumping jacks, sing a silly song). Players must complete the challenge before taking their turn.
Tip

If you’re playing with kids, get them involved in creating the rules. They’ll love getting to use their imaginations and will be more engaged in the game.

How Might a Game of the Candy Deluxe Dice Game Look? (Find Out Here)

Candy-lollipops-background-with-a-quote-about-the-lack-of-satisfaction-in-rolling-dice-without-getting-candy.

One round of the Candy Deluxe Dice Game with Anita Bath, Cole Kutz, and Iona Boat might go something like this:

  • The players are seated around the central candy pile, each starting with 5 pieces.
  • Since Iona is the youngest, she rolls first. She gets a 3 and then a 5 – corresponding to “Take one candy from every player with more than you.” But Anita and Cole also have 5 candies each, so Iona doesn’t take any this turn.
  • It’s Cole’s turn next. He rolls a 2 and 1, meaning “Everyone passes one candy to the left.” Cole chooses a gummy bear and passes it left to Iona, who now has 6 candies while Anita and Cole have 4 each.
  • Up next is Anita. She rolls 6 and 4 – “Swap a candy with any player.” Anita swaps one of her taffies for a chocolate from Cole’s pile.
  • Play continues clockwise around the circle. When Iona rolls double 5s, she gets to “Take one from every player with an even number of candies,” swiping a piece from both Anita and Cole.
  • After several more rolls, the central candy pile is empty, ending that round. Cole finishes with the most candies, having successfully stolen extras using the “Take from richer players” action.
  • No matter who’s rolling, the Candy Deluxe Dice Game keeps everyone on their toes. You never know when someone might roll doubles and start raiding your hard-earned candy stash.

Adjusting the Rules for Different Age Groups

A-man-reflecting-on-competition-with-a-humorous-candy-dice-game-meme-overlay

Candy Dice isn’t just for kids; it’s a game that adults love too, for its simplicity and the nostalgia it brings. But, depending on who’s playing, you might want to tweak the rules a bit.

  • For Kids: Make it simpler. Consider using pictures or symbols on the dice instead of numbers to make it easier for the younger ones. The joy on their faces when they understand they’ve won some candy is priceless, even if they end up rolling the dice in ways that defy physics.
  • For Adults: Add a layer of complexity. Introduce “challenge rolls” or “candy taxes” for an added twist. Adults enjoy the strategic element, and let’s be honest, the competition can get pretty intense. I’ve seen friendships put to the test over a piece of chocolate.

Table of Adjustments:

Age GroupAdjustmentReason
KidsSymbols on DiceMakes it easier for non-readers.
AdultsChallenge RollsAdds complexity and strategic depth.

“There was this one game where we introduced a “roll a six, do a trick” rule for the adults. I never knew I could juggle until I had to do it to keep my candy stash. It was hilarious and tested my limitsโ€”the ingredients for a memorable game night.” – Aquita, Fun Party Tips

How to Play the Candy Dice Game at Different Events

A-child's-hands-over-a-candy-dice-game-instruction-sheet-on-a-pink-background

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my extensive candy dice game experience, it’s that this versatile game is perfect for any occasion.

Maybe you’re looking to add some extra sweetness to a holiday gathering or just want a fun activity for a classroom party, this candy dice game is exactly what you’re looking for.

For Every Occasion:

  • Family Gatherings: Where the game transitions from mild strategizing to competitive candy hoarding.
  • Adult Parties: Yes, adults. Remember, calories from candy eaten during a game don’t count (I wish).
  • Classrooms: Where the kids learn the valuable lesson of probability, strategy, and, most importantly, sharing candy.

Turning Christmas with a Candy Dice Game Twist

Christmas, the season of giving, receiving, and now, rolling dice for candy. In my experience, introducing the Candy Dice Game during Christmas adds a sprinkle of joy and a dash of competitiveness among family and friends. Here’s how you can make this game a Christmas tradition:

  • Candy Cane Bonanza: Replace regular pieces of candy with mini candy canes or chocolate Santas.
  • Create the Mood: Set up the game in a cozy corner with some twinkling lights and holiday tunes.
  • Christmas-Themed Printable Game Sheets: These are not just game sheets; they’re your ticket to a festive atmosphere. They add a special touch and make everything more Christmas-y.
  • Special Rule โ€“ The Christmas Bonus: Roll a double, and you get to pick a mystery gift from the Christmas gift pile (make sure these are small, inexpensive items).

Bringing Fun to Classrooms and Family Parties

The Candy Dice Game isn’t just fun; it’s an educational goldmine and the perfect party energizer. Here’s how to make it work:

For the classroom:

  • Divide students into small groups and give each group their own dice and candy.
  • Use the game as a reward for good behavior or completing assignments.
  • Incorporate math skills by having students add up their candy totals at the end.

For family parties:

  • Set up multiple game stations so everyone can play at once.
  • Create teams with a mix of ages for some hilarious inter-generational bonding.
  • Offer small prizes (like even more candy) for the winners.

I’m always looking for ways to keep this sweet game fresh and exciting.

After all, variety is the spice of life – and the key to keeping your sugar rush going.

Let’s dive into some creative twists that will take your candy dice game to the next level.

DIY Candy Dice Game Kits for Themed Parties

Want to take your party game to the next level? Create your own candy dice game kit with a fun theme! It’s easier than you might think. Just grab some dice, candy, and a few themed extras. Here are some ideas:

  • Movie Night: Include movie theater candy (Milk Duds, Sour Patch Kids), popcorn, and a list of movie trivia questions.
  • Around the World: Use candies from different countries (Pocky from Japan, Kinder Surprises from Germany), and include facts about each country’s candy culture.
  • Decade Dance: Choose candies that were popular in a specific decade (Pixy Stix for the 70s, Push Pops for the 90s), and create a playlist with hits from that era.

One year, I made a “Winter Wonderland” candy dice game kit for a holiday party.

It had peppermint candies, silver and blue dice, and a snowy backdrop. It was a hit – even if I did accidentally glue my fingers together a couple times while making it.

Using the Candy Deluxe Dice Game as a Creative Party Favor

Send your guests home with a sweet reminder of the fun they had at your party! Create mini candy dice game kits as party favors. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Small bags or boxes
  • Regular dice (if using regular, include a note to only roll one die)
  • An assortment of candies
  • Printable instructions

Assembling the favors is a piece of cake (or should I say, a piece of candy?).

Just fill each bag or box with a few dice and some candy, then attach the instructions.

Your guests will love having a portable version of the game to play at home or on the go.

I made candy dice game favors for my niece’s birthday party a few years ago, and they were a big hit with the kids (and the parents who appreciated not having to come up with goodie bag ideas).

Just be careful not to eat all the candy before you finish assembling the favors – not that I would know anything about that.

Before You Go! Wanna Mix It Up With Some Other Dice Games?

Now that youโ€™ve mastered the Candy Dice Game (my DELUXE version), why not try some other exciting dice games?

Sure, I love some sweets, but here’s a few super simple, super fun dice game options that are totally fun AND candy-free:

  1. Mexico: Each player gets a dice cup and two dice. Roll secretly, then either bluff or reroll if youโ€™ve got a low combo. You donโ€™t want the lowest roll; it costs you a life. โ€œMexicoโ€ (2-1) tops the chart, and 3-2 is the lowest. Last one standing takes the game! Itโ€™s all about luck, bluffing, and fun strategy.
  2. Liarโ€™s Dice:ย Each player has a cup and five dice. Roll your dice and hide them under your cup. Take turns making bids on how many of a certain number are under all the cups combined. Call out a bluff or place a higher bid.
  3. Dice 10000: Aim to hit 10,000 points with 6 dice in 10000, a.k.a. Farkle. Roll โ€™em, set aside scoring dice (like 1s, 5s, or triples), and decide: roll the leftovers for more points or play it safe and bank your score. Just avoid rolling non-scorers, or youโ€™ll Farkle and lose that turnโ€™s points. First to 10,000 wins. Itโ€™s the perfect mix of risk and strategy!
  4. LCR (Left, Center, Right): Sit in a circle with three special dice marked with L, C, and R. Roll the dice to determine where you pass your chips โ€“ to the left, center, or right. The last player with chips wins.
  5. Tenzi: Each player has ten dice. Race to roll all ten of your dice to the same number. The first player to do so wins the round. Play multiple rounds for even more fun!

Your Turn

Ever had a candy casualty during a heated game? We’re talking about those tragic moments when a beloved piece of candy met its untimely demise. Bonus points if the story involves a dog, a toddler, or a fan.
