Instead of letting them go to waste, here’s an idea: reach out and donate your excess eggs to local food banks, shelters, hospitals, or churches.

I’ll bet those organizations could use your extra eggs to spread some holiday cheer.

5. Play the Easter Egg Dice Game

Got a bunch of those pretty plastic eggs just begging to be opened after the big hunt? Hold on a sec.

Leave ’em sealed and have some silly fun swapping, tossing, and stealing eggs first with an Easter Egg Dice Game.

You’ll need some plastic eggs left unopened, a die, and a printable listing different egg actions based on what you roll. Then:

  • Players start with 3 to 5 treat-filled Easter eggs. There’s a pile of 30 or more eggs in the center. Youngest player starts first.
  • Roll the die once to pick a row and roll again to select a column. Your action is where the row and column intersect on the gameboard. Do it.
  • Continue clockwise. Everyone must have at least 3 turns. The game ends when either all the eggs from the central pile have been taken or a set time limit is reached.
  • Enjoy your treats!
Tip

Prizes for trivia experts. Set aside a bowl of special golden Easter egg candies. Consider throwing in a round where players can earn 1 for answering an Easter trivia question correctly.

6. Store Eggs for Next Year

Got surplus eggs you want to save for crafting or next year’s hunt? A few easy storage tricks will keep them fresh!

  • Give your eggs a gentle scrub down. Use warm, soapy water to wash away any dirt or stickiness, inside and out. Dry thoroughly with a soft towel.
  • Stash eggs somewhere cool, dry and dark – like a closet. Light and heat cause the plastic eggs to fade or warp.

Following these tips makes sure your eggs stay pristine and ready for projects down the road.

No wasting these precious supplies. And saving eggs means one less thing to prep when Easter rolls around again.

warning

You could always attempt to recycle the plastic eggs, but not every recycling center accepts them. Always check before you go.

7. Clean Up the Egg Hunt Area

Okay, the party’s over, eggs are found – now time to restore order. Gathering everything up and giving the space a scrub down allows fun for future events.

  • Start by collecting stray eggshells, wrappers, baskets – any hunt remnants in the yard or garden. Use a small bucket to carefully pick through grass and bushes in case any prizes got overlooked.
  • Sort recyclables like plastic shells and cardboard into labeled bins. Compost leftover food waste if you can too. Then pack up the rest of the trash. Taking time to separate scraps keeps things green.
  • Don’t forget to wipe down tables, chairs and other surfaces that got sticky fingers or spill stains. Use a gentle all-purpose cleaner and rinse well. Catch those spots quickly before they set!

And it prevents tripping hazards, cluttered chaos, unwanted pests…you know what I mean. A few quick pickups make the space invitation-ready again later on.

Tip

Let the kids help out – offer a prize egg for whoever collects the most trash. Making cleanup a reward game keeps them eager AND productive.
