Who’s the Game For?

This game is honestly perfect for any large group Mother’s Day event where it’s all about celebrating moms, grandmas, aunties – the whole maternal crew.

Getting all those incredible women together and bonding over some good old-fashioned fun? 

Sure, you can play it with your extended family, but let me tell you, this game is absolutely incredible when you’ve got a big group of moms together.

Mother’s Day Pass the Package (A Step-By-Step Guide)

Let’s dive into all that you need to know to have a great time playing this awesome Mother’s Day game.

Game Objective:

Simple. Pass around a mysteriously wrapped package (or better yet-multiple packages!) until the music stops. 

If you’re holding a gift when the music stops, unwrap a layer. 

Cross your fingers that by the time the game is over, you’re left with a cool gift!

Peel away a layer of wrapping, and voila, you might just be the lucky duck who ends up with a huge, special gift.

Materials Needed:

• Main Gift(s): This is the gift that’s left after all the layers have been peeled away. This could be something symbolic, fun, or thoughtful for Mother’s Day.  Gift cards are always a win! 
  
  Now, if you can swing it, I recommend having 1 to 5 ratio of big gifts. 
  
  So, if you have 20 people attending, you prepare 4 big gifts.
  
• Wrapping Paper and Boxes: Wrap the gift in several (and I do mean, SEVERAL layers). 
  
• Challenge Cards and Additional Mini Gifts (optional): For added fun, you can include Mother’s Day themed challenge cards and/or additional mini-gifts between some layers.
   
  That way, as players are unwrapping the main package, there’s all these funny and silly surprises that they end up experiencing. 
  
  So. Much. Fun.
  
• Music: Whatever floats your boat. Steam some music from your TV or cell phone.  My personal favorites? “Rollin’ in the Deep” by Adele and “Hey, Mickey!” by Toni Basil.
  
  They’ve got just the right rhythm for frantic passing and groovin’ to the music while you’re passing the gift(s).
  
• People: A group of awesome people (preferably moms or mom substitutes) who’re ready to have a good time.

Setup:

1. Prepare the Main Gifts(s): Wrap the main gift in multiple layers of paper – basically like it’s a fortess.  More layers = more fun. I personally recommend wrapping boxes of stuff in other boxes combined with layers of wrapping paper. You can make the game longer or shorter by adjusting the number of layers.
   
2. Get the Mini-gifts and Challenges Card Ready: If you’re going to use them, alternate sticking a challenge card (something silly for the person to do) or a sweet mini-gift in between each layer of wrapping.  You don’t have to, but it REALLY makes the game so much more fun.
   
3. Gather Players: Have all players sit in a circle. The game is more fun with more people, but make sure everyone can comfortably pass the package.

How to Play:

1. Start the Music: Hand what will end up being a HUGE package(s) to players in the circle. Start playing music. The package is passed from person to person around the circle – preferably to the beat of the music.
   
2. Stop the Music: At random times, stop the music. The person holding the package when the music stops removes one layer of wrapping.
   
   • Optional:  If you’ve placed challenge or mini-gifts between layers, the person who unwraps that layer either keeps the mini-gift (congrats!) or has to do the challenge [you can download Mother’s Day Pass the package challenge cards below]. 
     
     Got a challenge card? Do the chicken dance. Unwrapped a mini-gift? That’s yours to keep – congrats! Keep it going till the last layer reveals the main gift.
     
     If you’ve placed challenge or mini-gifts between layers, the person who unwraps that layer gets to keep or read them.  
     
3. Rinse and repeat: Start the music again, and continue passing the package. Stop the music randomly until all the layers for all the gifts are unwrapped.
   
4. Winning the Game: The person who unwraps the final layer of wrapping paper wins the gift inside. 
   
   But, honestly, if you do this right, EVERYONE will walk away from the game with something special – and having had a fun experience. 
   
   And that’s really what matters, you know?

Step-by-Step Guide: Playing the Mother’s Day Kisses Trivia Game

Objective: The name of the game is simple: be the first player to cover their bouquet board with delicious chocolate kisses by answering True/False Mother’s Day trivia questions correctly. 

It’s a race to create the sweetest, most blooming bouquet of all – in the shortest amount of time (And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a little friendly competition, especially when chocolate is involved?)

Materials: Before we dive into the gameplay, let’s gather our supplies.

You’ll need:

• “Blooming with Love” Kisses Trivia Game boards (one for each player + you can download the printable pdf below)
• A set of Mother’s Day trivia strips (or you can create your own customized questions – also included in the pdf)
• A HUGE stash of Hershey’s Kisses (or any other small candy/marker you prefer)
• A timer (optional, but it adds a fun sense of urgency!)

Setup:

Mama Needs a Candy Break: A Mother’s Day Candy Dice Game

Let’s break down the essentials of what you need to rock out this fun Mother’s Day Candy Dice game – starting with:

Objective: The goal of this Mother’s Day dice game is simple: roll the dice, collect candy, and try not to eat it all before the game ends.

How Many Players: This game candy dice game can be played with as few as 2 players or as many as your heart desires.

But let’s be real – the more people involved (moms, dads, grandmas, aunts, kids) the more fun the experience’ll be.

About 6 to 8 players is ideal. Any more than that and you might want to split into smaller groups.

• The “Dynamic Duo” Option (for larger groups 8+ players) : Play in teams of two (and split the loot)
• The “Solo Survivor” Challenge: Brave souls can play alone.
• Get creative with team names relating to moms or candy – e.g. “Sugar Mamas”, “Chocolate Champs”, etc. It’ll add an extra dose of laughter!

Materials: To play this Mother’s Day candy dice game, you’ll need:

• Printable Mama Needs a Candy Break: Mother’s Day Candy Dice game board (provided at the end of the article)
• One standard, 6-sided die (preferably not the kind your toddler has chewed on)

1. Print out the game rules on some heavy cardstock or laminate them for long-lasting fun.
2. Gather your candy stash and pour it into a central pile or bowl within reach of all players. You’ll need at least 30 to 40 extra candies.
3. Give each player their own bowl or bag to collect candies in as they play. Everyone should start off with 5 candies.
4. Cut out the challenge strips. Put them in a bowl or jar nearby.
5. Read over the rules together (or have one dramatic friend do a reading).
6. Figure out who goes first by having a rock-paper-scissors battle royale OR let mom go first OR have the youngest go first. Whatever works bets for your group.

How to Play:

1. The gameplay is delightfully simple, which is perfect for when you have a mix of kids and adults playing. The first player rolls the dice. Depending on their roll, they follow the instructions on the game rules card. This could mean taking candies, giving candies away, or doing a silly challenge.
2. Play continues clockwise, with each player taking a turn to roll and following the corresponding instructions.
3. After each round (when everyone has had a turn), everyone has to choose a challenge slip and do it. Be careful! Some challenge slips are solo events and some require full group participation ?.
4. The game continues until everyone’s had at least 3 turns or until a predetermined time has run out. The winner is the person with the most candy. But, EVERYONE gets to enjoy their loot in the end.
